17 May 2019 | Yoga Event-Masterclass with Laura Burkhart | @ Dekwest | Amsterdam West
This inspiring (online) yoga teacher from San Francisco,-the US, you will know from the inspiring and philosophical lessons in the Yoga Journal: A world-renowned and leading online yoga and mindfulness magazine and platform. She is best known for her virtuous (online) yoga flow classes. Its flowing Yoga movements give away that she has been a dancer. Laura discovered yoga when she was recovering from burnout. She worked non-stop and was what you call a true ‘ workaholic’, as she appoints it. Health problems like insomnia combined with the stress demanded its toll. Yoga eventually helped Laura to get back on track. She was attracted to yoga because yoga gives a similar meditative movement, which she also experienced when she was still dancing. The main difference she discovered between yoga and dance was that yoga encouraged her to respect her body and the boundaries of her body. The healing and-earthing benefits she experienced from yoga enabled her to get in touch with her authentic self. This was so valuable to her that she decided to share this with the world. She is determined to help others to find the same mitigation and peace of mind.

Demystifying Arm Balances
Workshop Description: In this workshop-style vinyasa flow class, you will be given step-by-step instructions and specific techniques to safely, and successfully, “take off” in the following arm balances. Each pose will be broken down into three stages, making the class accessible for all levels. We will explore Vasisthasana Variations (Side Plank Pose) Bakasana (Crane Pose), Parsva Bakasana (Side Crane), Astavakrasana (Eight-Angle Pose) and Visvamitrasana (Visvamitra’s Pose). You’ll also receive a handout that visually breakdowns of each pose so you can continue to practice the progression of these arm balances at home.
• How to create an unshakable foundation
• Proper set-up for high-performance
• Essential alignment techniques for lift-off
Heart Hip and Core Flow (Master Class/Workshop)
Workshop Description: Our current way of living tends to foster rounding of the shoulders, slouching of the torso and tight hips due to sitting at a desk or even activities like riding a bike, etc. During this all-levels well-balanced workshop (or master class), we’ll gradually flow into a deeper and deeper shoulder and hip openers, backbends, and core work. We will round out the practice by lengthening the hamstrings and working on and balancing postures. You are sure to leave the class feeling very open and strong from head to toe, and skin to the bone!

“My mission is to create space for people to peel away the layers imposed by society, to connect with their hearts, and to continue joyfully in life from their most authentic nucleus.” I want people to be happy and have peace with where they are. On the way to their chosen path combined with believing in themselves, their abilities and what they have to offer to this world. Everyone has this in themselves. To unleash this-as a yoga teacher and human being-in people is a true gift.
